Gulu municipality mayor Christopher Acire has been netted by the police for allegedly raiding to the town clerk's office and threatening violence using his ten heavy looking bully boys on Monday 20 April 2009.

More Female Teachers Needed

Gulu woman MP Betty Aol Ochan has called for increased enrollment of female teachers in primary schools arguing that their absence is affecting the performance of girls and their retention in schools.
 
Aol argues that many girls have dropped out of school because they lack role models in the teaching profession.

Weapons Recovered in Pader

The UPDF have recovered several assortments of LRA rebels’ planted war equipments across the region northern Uganda. In a communiqué  issued the by the 5th division army spokesman Captain Ronald Kakunguru, UPDF has recovered 5 Anti Personnel mines, 3 Sub machine guns, 24 tins of Sub machine gun ammunitions, and 2 tins of G2 ammunition.

Minister Assures Teachers on Pay

The Minister of Education and Sports has pledged to disburse teachers’ salary on time and to strengthen the inspectorate sectors. Uganda government has constructed a sh447M prison structure in Gulu to house 600 inmates.
