Hundreds of President Museveni's neighbors in Barlegi trading centre Okwang sub county Lira district will now have a reason to smile following his directive to construct a modern boarding primary school with a health centre worth billions of shillings.

Lands minister and Otuke county MP Daniel Omara Atubo while inspecting the piece of land offered by the community on Monday said the president has offered to build a school and health unit for the residents of Barlegi as an alternative since he and PGB are occupying the previous one.

Museveni camped in Barlegi Okwang Sub County on 23 March 2004 to monitor operations against the LRA rebels Okwang as their base.

Whenever he is in the north, President Museveni usually spends his nights in Barlegi state lodge.

Omara Atubo says Museveni could have built the school sometimes back but was frustrated by a squad of disgruntled green-eyed politicians in Lango who have been saying that Museveni wants to grab Lango land, and added that those affected would be compensated.

A team of UPDF engineers headed by Brigadier Timothy Sabiiti from Maga Maga has been dispatched to Barlegi to asses the land.

Benjamin Ogwang 70 and Jackson Acol 67 both Museveni's neighbours have offered over 20 acres of land to build the school and health unit.

Brigadier Sabiiti said the constructions will begin soon and that the school shall start functioning by next year first term. "This is to appreciate Langi for supporting peace", he said.

5th division army chief Col Sam Kavuma said locals should embark on farming,  adding that Kony is no more.
