His Highness Yocam Odur, Lango Paramount Chief
Lango Cultural Foundation, the only uniting body for all Langi both in Uganda and abroad has reportedly attacked a section of Lango Parliamentarians who have since refused to support the institution.
Wakili Okello, Cultural Minister in the Lango cultural institution disclosed this during the youths’ weekend meeting at Cultural centre to fundraise money to buy a vehicle for the office s of youth.
He blasted Members of parliament from Lango sub region and urged youths to join hands and decampign the said legislators come 2011 election.
Mr. Okello who is believed to an NRM party loyal in Otuke constituency was disgusted by the manner in which most of the MPs do not want to financially support the institution whenever they are requested.
The news of attack against Lango MPs came hardly two days after the His Highness Yosam Odur, Lango Paramount Chief, had just blasted his Prime Minister Faustino OLwit Engol for involvement in alleged land grabbing and starting up his own clan.
However, a member of parliament from Lira who preferred to speak on conditions of anonymity hit backed at Lango Cultural Foundation saying it is not their responsibility to develop and maintain the institution.
The MP further stated that government is often shillings five million to the Lango Chief but unfortunately his ministers don’t seem to get a share of the funds.
The attack on MPs did not go down well with most legislators in the region that some are threatening to boycott the institution if they do not get an apology.
