More than 70 Sudanese have been abducted by LRA along Sudan-Congo boarder, accordind to a spokes person of the government of Southern Sudan.
The governor of Western Equatorial state Her Excellency Madam Jema Kumba while receiving 2 boys and 3 girls of between 12-17 years rescued by the joint operations troops in the Garamba national forest in the DRC revealed that LRA rebels atrocities have affected people along the borders to the extent of killing several unknown numbers Sudanese nationals and carrying abductions.
Captain Deo Akiiki the operation spokesman says they were handed over by the Joint Task Force Commander of the operation Brig. General Patrick Kankiriho accompanied by the Operations Intelligence Officer Maj Muwonge.
Madam Jema Kumba requested that the joint forces should continue tightening their grips on LRA until it is defeated once and for all and called upon her citizens to report any suspicious characters or LRA rebels to the authorities.
Sudan governor expressed gratitude for the work done by the joint Forces and promised continued support and cooperation from herself and the people she leads to rout out what she termed as "Distorted minded and Criminal Oriented LRA thugs" She applauded the forces for bringing back Sudanese citizens to their homeland but expressed sadness for the 15 old girl who was already pregnant by the time she was rescued.
Several Sudanese government top officers who received them include; deputy governor Western Equatorial State Mr. Joseph Ngere, Commissioner of Police western Equatorial State Brig General Zaidi, Yambiyo based Point Brigade Commander Brig. General Deng Rock Dit, Security Adviser to the Governor.
Brigadier Patrick Kankiriho expressed gratitude at the cooperation of the local authority and SPLA in the operations and promised to continue rescuing and delivering Sudanese nationals. He assured the gathering that LRA has been broken down and disabled to conduct his ruthless acts and that soon he will have no fighters, die of hunger, captured or killed.
He expressed the need for continued strengthening of the operations along Sudan Congo Boarder so that Kony is denied of food and hideouts when pressure is much on him in the DRC where UPDF has its main effort.
