“Only 60% planed positions in Apac district service are filled leaving a vacuum of 40% that hampers the implementation of the developmental activities in the district”.
The Chairman of the District Service Commission Dr Abel Obot told a press conference at his offices last evening that due to financial constraints faced by public service commission Ministry, the district could not filled all the vacancies forcing it to employ some people on temporal basis.
Obot said that more than one thousand civil servants including teachers with others since 1972 have not yet been confirmed in to the service due to financial hardship by the commission adding that the commission was given only ninety day to clean the back logs.
He said they were forced to confirm even the dead ones with an act code named post humus confirmation so that their relatives have access to their pensions and death gratuities.
“What we did is to first work on the backlog cases of confirmations of the district staff so that our staff work with confident of getting their pensions at the end of their service”, Obot narrated.
“We have a competent and independent commission who work without any influence, being guided by the legal document”, he added
