Gulu woman MP Betty Aol Ochan has called for increased enrollment of female teachers in primary schools arguing that their absence is affecting the performance of girls and their retention in schools.
Aol argues that many girls have dropped out of school because they lack role models in the teaching profession.
She adds that almost all primary schools and Teacher training colleges have a limited number of women enrolling for teaching courses.
The MP believes this trend is detrimental to the women empowerment struggle.
