It is now confirmed that four of the many students of Aboke Girls School abducted by the Lords Resistant Army rebels in 1996 have died while only 25 have returned and one is still missing.

The news came at a time when Catherine Ajok 26 has just returned from the LRA’s captivity.

This was revealed by Jackson Atwii the Concern Parents Association chairperson during a gathering of over a thousand people at Mayors garden in Lira town over the weekend to remember victims of LRA war.

The event was marked by a peace prayer and launch of a monument built in memory of those who died during over 20 years of LRA rebel insurgency and those still in captivity.

Suspected rebels of the Lords resistant army on the 9th Oct 1996 raided Aboke Girls School in Apac district and abducted over 140 girls but later released  about 100 and went with more than 30 young girls to the bush after a long pleading by the then deputy headmistress Sister Rachele.

Otwii says CPA in conjunction with other humanitarian organizations is collecting the whole data of those who were abducted and lost their lives in the hands of the Lords resistant army rebels.

A monument built at the Lira’s main roundabout is to remember of those who were killed and abducted by the LRA rebels.

Lango diocese bishop John Charles Odur Kami who led the service said tears and worries are still fresh in the minds of the Northern people.

He urged parents of the abducted to girls to always accept their daughters at home whenever they return from captivity since they were just forced into sex slavery, and rebel activities.
