Achola Janet, a student of Kampala International University, is tipped to be one of the best female athletes in Uganda after improving her 800m personal best by over one second in UAF Second National Trial held at Mandela National Stadium (Namboole, Kampala) on April 18, 2009.

The race was won by Juliet Chekwell (Standard SSS) in 2min 08.4 sec. Achola was second in 2.09.9 sec.

Achola's coach, Kevin O'Connor, said: "Janet was disappointed at coming second, and most especially at not beating her personal best by a bigger margin. But this disappointment demonstrates her determination to improve, which is a marvellous reflection of her personality. I am confident that we are on course for 2 min 6 sec this season and then around 2 min 00 sec in 2012, so she can qualify for the London Olympics".
