Uganda's up and coming track & field star, Achola Janet, has just left Kampala by road to take part in a big athletics meeting taking place in Eldoret, Western Kenya, on 8 and 9 May 2009.

Other competitors in the 800 metres will be Pamela Jelimo of Kenya - the world?s top female middle distance runner, who won Gold Medal at the Beijing Olympics. Also expected to take part is another Kenyan, Janeth Jepkosgei, who is the current World Champion.

Achola Janet's coach, Kevin O'Connor, commented: "Janet is still learning her trade, and in Eldoret she will be taking on the Premier League of middle distance running. One of her strengths, though, is her fearlessness. Don't expect her to beat these other top girls at present, but do expect her to learn and to improve".
