WASHINGTON DC, 20 October 2012: The Lango Paramount Chief Won Nyaci Mzee Yocam Odur Ebii has arrived in Washington DC to start the first leg of his diaspora visit. He touched down at about 8.30pm local DC time (3.30am Uganda time).
He was received by the Executives of Lango North American community led by Imat Rehema Apio that included Joe Angole, Ben Wacha and Mr Atim. On hand also was Ambassador Ogwang Okul of the Uganda Mission in Washington. The USA Leg of the visit will last 5 days.
Won Deo will meet and interface with members of the Lango North America community to discuss matters relating to the development of Lango and particularly how to rally all of us for a common assault on scourges of dis-unity, poverty, erosion of cultural values, diseases, ignorance and others. He will not engage in political work of any nature because that is not the calling of his office.
Won Deo will embark on the second leg of the visit that will take him to UK after a week in USA. The leadership of Lango association UK have said that arrangements are in high gear to receive Won Deo in London.
The Awitim of Lango, Dr Engineer M Odongo has urged the UK Lango Community that presently is seemingly experiencing internal stresses and dis-unity to seize this opportunity to meet Won Deo and discuss everything they have variously spoken and written about so as to iron out differences and achieve harmony.
“The volume of mails and letters (mostly accusations, suspicions, warnings) we have received from there has overwhelmed our capacity to analyze and respond to each and every one of them, hence my appeal”, he said.
